It's the Wharton way of celebrating life! Wharton - as rich as its rice and cotton crops, as colorful as its sunsets and sunrises and as spectacular as its wildflower expanses of bluebonnets sprinkled with flames of Indian paintbrushes. Enjoy the sights! Historical homes, museums, cattle ranches, the winding landscape of the Riverfront Park along the Colorado River . . . are just a few of the many treats in store for you. It's the perfect blend of old and new. Exciting and rejuvenating for the senses . . . and one of Texas' best kept secret getaways. Things to see and do are endless! Wharton offers swimming pools, tennis courts and a country club with a spectacular golf course. A hunter's paradise, deer, geese, ducks and squirrels are in natural bounty. Fishing on our rivers, streams, farm ponds and lakes promises plentiful catfish, bass, and crappie - or enjoy saltwater fishing on Matagorda Bay, only an hour's drive away! Historic Main Street's renovated early 19th century buildings and stately plantation period homes throughout the area are splendid sightseeing pleasures to behold! Also be sure to visit the Wharton County Historical Museum and Marshall and Lillie A. Johnson Wild Game Exhibit. |
