Wharton
is a true regional center for Healthcare Services. Gulf Coast
Medical Center (GCMC) is a full-service community Hospital that serves not
only Wharton and Wharton County, but the seven surrounding counties as
well. More than 70 primary care and specialist physicians provide
full-time coverage to the community through affiliations with South Texas
Medical Clinics (STMC). Together GCMC and STMC provide
sub-specialists who bring part-time services to Wharton that you wouldn't
ordinarily find outside of a major metropolitan area. These specialty
services include Hyperbaric Oxygen, a Sleep Disorder Center,
state-of-the-art diagnostic services, and even a Cancer Center that offers
radiation therapy and medical oncology services. Together with South
Texas Medical Clinics, GCMC recently introduced the region’s first and
only Open MRI Imaging Center. For more information, visit
